A Brief History of SCS
21 April 2004 – Cambridge Child Development Centre Surabaya situated at Jl. Raya Satelit Indah AN-2 began to operate. The classes were opened for Toddlers until Kindergarten 1 learners. Classes were conducted in English, Mandarin Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia. CCDC started as a franchise from Singapore and adapted the Singaporean curriculum.
2007- With the inclusion of lower primary classes, CCDC moved to a bigger building located at Jl. Raya Satelit Indah CN-1 Surabaya.
2011- CCDC changed its name to Surabaya Cambridge School, adapted the Cambridge curriculum and applied to become a member of Cambridge Assessment International Education.
2012- SCS became a registered Cambridge International School after getting the approval of its application to Cambridge Assessment International Education. It was also in this year that SCS moved to its own building inside Perumahan Alam Galaxy, a subdivision surrounded by greenery. As a registered Cambridge International School with ID 295, it started offering Primary Checkpoint to 6th graders.
2013 – The new building did not only house the preschool and primary students. The secondary department started with 16 Grade 7 students and became the first batch of Junior high school graduates after three years.
2016 – The senior high school department started to function. SCS applied again to Cambridge International for additional qualification to offer IGCSE to Grade 10 students. The application was approved and it was extended to AS and A Level Examination. It was also in this year that SCS Primary was granted a SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) status.
2017 – The first batch of Grade 11 students sat for the AS Level examination. In this year, the junior high department applied for SPK status.
2018 – SPK status was granted to the junior high department and 10th grade students sat for IGCSE; Grade 11 sat for the AS Level examination while the Grade 12 took the A Level examination.
2019 – The secondary department moved to its new building at Jl. Raya Jelidro II N 36. ID 295 Centre was transferred to the new building upon the approval of Cambridge International. The new building’s facilities, specifically the three Science laboratories, met the standard quality of Cambridge Assessment International Education. Today, ID295 accepts private candidates who wish to take IGCSE, AS and A Level.
Today- SCS’ first batch of graduates are enrolled in different Universities in Indonesia, others are admitted in The Chinese University of Hong Kong with 24 units advanced credits, National Taiwan University and James Cook University in Singapore under a scholarship programme.
