PREP & KINDER
APPROACH:
The teaching-learning process is focused on developing understanding, critical thinking, ability to ask questions, seeking answers & solutions, developing skills in innovation and nurture a curiosity that goes beyond the formal curriculum. We promote a love for learning that stays with the students throughout their lives.
As the children grow up, we will provide them with the full opportunity to develop the skills and values that they will need for life. We encourage our students to be active, independent and participative in activities. We also provide more opportunities for the character development of our students.
We utilize “THE PROJECT WORK” method that provides students with the opportunity to synthesize knowledge from various areas of learning and critically and creatively apply it to real life situations. Based on the latest educational research and development, this process enhances students’ knowledge and enables them to acquire skills like collaboration, communication and independent learning that prepare them for lifelong learning and the challenges ahead.
PREP & KINDER CLASS PROGRAMS
TODDLERS (9 months – 2 years)
During this period a child’s motor skills develop at a rapid rate. Everything seems attractive and worth touching, smelling, and tasting. Toddlers are full of energy, active and curious. A great change that occurs between 12 and 24 months is the child’s ability to begin to express oneself.
We combine the physical and cognitive activities to stimulate the brain development as well as the social and emotional expressions of the children. Individual attention and close supervision are tendered by responsive teachers. Toddler classroom is designed to meet the special needs of very young children.
NURSERY 1-2 (2-4 years)
Children are in discovery stage. They are learning language skills, developing opinions and interests. They start coping with change as well as learning about themselves and their abilities. Preschool children are ready and eager to learn new concepts, developing their language and communication skills.
Early childhood is the gateway to learning, and here at Surabaya Cambridge School, we encourage our pupils to explore, experiment, and solve problems to develop self-confidence. Our goal is to nurture the development of the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the child. Furthermore, we develop their language and physical skills that will establish a strong foundation for each child as an eager and curious learner throughout life. Thus, it will ensure a successful transition to kindergarten. SCS has clean, very attractive and well-decorated preschool classrooms. We want the children to feel at ease by posting family photos on the wall that give a homely appeal of the classrooms.
KINDERGARTEN 1-2 (4-6 years)
Kindergarten is not only a period of playtime for children but also of structured education. The pupils learn the basic values in life such as respect for authority and building good rapport with friends. We share information and work together with parents for the benefit of the child.
Kindergarten pupils learn more about these subjects: Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Math, Science, Art, Music, and Physical Education. The teachers are well-aware of individual differences among pupils that’s why we apply a variety of teaching strategies.
