Accreditation and Affiliation

SCS is a Private School with Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama (SPK) status and has been accredited by the Ministry of Education (KEMDIKBUD).  All departments utilize the local and Cambridge curricula. Students take the National Examination (UNAS) which is conducted to evaluate the quality of education in primary and secondary levels.

The Primary and Secondary building  are two different accredited examination centres of Cambridge Assessment International  Education. The Primary Checkpoint is held every April in the primary building.  ID295 Centre is in the  secondary building and is open to all private candidates from other schools–non SCS students who want to take IGCSE, AS and A Level qualifications in June and November series.  Just call SCS during office hours or send email to cambridgesecondary.scs@gmail.com for details about the examination fees and other information.

PRESCHOOL AND PRIMARY BUILDING FACILITIES

The building for preschool and primary students is inside Perumahan Alam Galaxy.  It is far from traffic noise and air pollutants.  In addition, the building is surrounded by greenery, giving students a refreshing environment.  The trees and a variety of plants within the teachers and students’ reach is an advantage as they use it during active outdoor learning in Science, Math, Arts and other subjects.

There is a large body of medical research on the health impacts of local traffic air pollution. Vehicle emissions, road dust and tyre fragmentation together cause an increase in atmospheric levels of carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrates and particulate matter in both solid and liquid forms. For those exposed to such pollution, there is a documented increase in mortality and morbidity from both respiratory and cardiac diseases. There is also evidence that the effects are greater on children. (Peter Rickwood, et.al)

Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumours in humans and it is also one of the most lethal. The American Heart Association has estimated that there are 60,000 deaths annually in the USA due to particle inhalation (Brook et al., 2004). The large epidemiological study of traffic pollution in Europe by Kunzli et al. suggested that 3% of total mortality ( 20, 000 cases per year) could be attributed solely to traffic pollution (Kunzli et al., 2000). (Read full text @SOAC09Rickwood_Knight.pdf).
